Lesson 20 of 64
Selling & checkout
Run POS sales, payments and receipts
Learn the retail POS workflow from opening a register session to checking payments and closing totals.
Before you begin
Your account needs POS access, a configured register, products and stock at the selling location.
Step by step
- Open POS, choose the correct register and start or resume the authorised session. Verify the location and opening cash.
- Search or scan a product, select the exact variant and review quantity and price. Apply only permitted discounts.
- Attach the customer when the sale needs a customer account or a later ledger reference. Recheck the total before taking payment.
- Record the actual payment method and amount. Wait for confirmation, then print or share the receipt using the available receipt actions.
- At close, review session sales and cash movements, count actual cash and investigate any difference before confirming the closing record.
Check the result
The sale should have a receipt and the expected payment, stock and customer-account effect. Check existing history before repeating an uncertain sale.
Common question
How should a returned POS sale be handled?
Use the POS return workflow linked to the original sale. Review the item, quantity and refund rather than entering an unrelated stock adjustment.
