Stock, finance & operations
Review FIFO layers, movements and low-stock alerts
Explain inventory quantities and costs using receipt layers, movement history and low-stock views.
Before you begin
Know the product or variant, location and period under investigation.
Step by step
- Open Inventory overview to identify the item and location that need review.
- Open movement history and follow receipts, sales, transfers, returns and adjustments in date order.
- Open FIFO layers and review received quantity, remaining quantity and recorded unit cost for the relevant stock.
- Use low-stock views and product thresholds to decide replenishment. Check other locations before planning a purchase.
- Open the source record for an unexplained quantity or missing cost. Correct through the source workflow instead of guessing a layer value.
Check the result
Movement quantities should explain the balance, and FIFO cost should be traceable to receiving or production records.
Common question
Can available quantity be correct while cost needs attention?
Yes. Check both quantity and cost-layer evidence, especially before production or profit review.
