Lesson 9 of 64
Stock, finance & operations
Review employee accounts and post payroll
Review previous-month payroll, salary accruals, advances and actual payments separately.
Before you begin
Check employee salary records, attendance policy and payroll authority before preparing a run.
Step by step
- Open Employee Accounts and inspect an employee statement for the chosen period and any opening payable or advance.
- Prepare the previous-month payroll preview. Review each employee's proposed net salary and warnings.
- Resolve required reviews and document any permitted salary override with its reason before confirming.
- Confirm once and review the salary run, accruals and linked payroll journal. Posting an accrual is separate from paying cash.
- Record actual salary payment or advance with the correct account and reference. For a wrong run, review the supported void-and-reverse action and preserve its original history.
Check the result
Employee payable, actual payments and the payroll journal should reconcile without duplicate accruals.
Common question
Does posting payroll prove employees have been paid?
No. Check actual salary payment entries and the paying account separately from salary accruals.
