Count closing materials and reconcile actual usage

Use closing material counts to calculate consumption and FIFO cost for a defined location and period.

Before you begin

Have a physical material count, supported manufacturing mode and complete receiving and movement records.

Step by step

  1. Open Materials used and create a material count for the intended location and period.
  2. Add the exact material variants and physically counted closing quantities.
  3. Review calculated consumption and available FIFO cost, investigating missing receipts or impossible closing quantities.
  4. If required, continue to Waste, scrap & yield to classify consumed materials before final posting.
  5. Review the confirmation and post only the intended record. Inspect linked stock and accounting entries afterward.

Check the result

Closing count and calculated usage must be supported by movement evidence for the same location and dates.

Common question

Is material reconciliation the same as a normal stock count?

No. This workflow calculates manufacturing consumption and its accounting treatment; use ordinary stock counts for physical inventory differences.
